Release of Wave 27 data

Record-level data From Wave 27 of CPHS was released on January 1st, 2023.

Wave 27 was conducted from September 1st 2022 to December 31st 2022. During this four-month period, data was captured from 127,557 households, out of a total of 178,677 sample households. The overall response rate in this Wave was 71.39 per cent. This is an improvement of 3 per cent from Wave 26. The rise in response rate is seen across rural and urban India. The response rate in urban regions (78.40 per cent) has increased by 3.6 per cent and the response rate in rural regions (58.66 per cent) has increased by 1.4 per cent from Wave 26.

Household level data on asset ownership, savings, borrowing, amenities, and consumer sentiment of all households for Wave 27 is available in the Aspirational India module of the CPdx dataset.

Wave 27 yielded responses from 631,771 household members, out of a total sample of 876,694 members. The number of member responses has increased by 17,334, from Wave 26. Wave 27 data on identity, migration, education, employment, health, financial inclusion, and time use for all household members is now available in the People of India module.

The completion of Wave 27 data also marks the update of final release data files for monthly income and expenses data for the months of May, June, July, and August 2022. Snapshot weekly expenses data for Wave 27 has also been published.
